The Impreza is the budget Subie. For 2006 it gets freshened up with a distinctive new family face. Designed by ex Alpha Romeo stylist Andreas Zapatinas, it looks better than the B9 Tribeca’s Edselesque schnoz. The side profile is the same as it has been for years.
Subaru’s tag line used to be “Inexpensive and built to stay that way.” Have you checked the window stickers lately? The folks at Fuji Heavy Industries are moving this brand up-market. Impreza still hangs on to that old mission though. If you want all-wheel drive but don't have a lot of cash, this is a good place to start. It's one of, if not the least expensive all-wheel drive vehicles you can get in America. My tester is a no-options base model that stickers for $19,000.
