Canada testing anti-speeding device/calf-exerciser
Word out of the Great White North is that Transport Canada, the Canadian equivalent of the U.S. Department of
Transportation, is testing a device that makes a vehicle’s accelerator pedal harder to press down if the vehicle is
determined to be speeding. About ten pilot cars have been fitted with GPS units, allowing their location and speed to
be monitored from low orbit. The article
on CNN.com states that similar systems have been tested in Europe and that the Canadian system is the first one to rear
its ugly head in North America. We doubt this crazy concept will reduce the number of speeders on Canada’s roads, but
it may lead to a whole bunch of Canadians who can’t help walking in circles because their right calf is so much larger
than their left.
