2006 Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT Limited reviewed

Legacy Gt 2006

The good: The 2006 Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT Limited disguises a sophisticated all-wheel-drive turbo drivetrain in a useful and nondescript body, with decent fuel economy and a well-done if simple interior rounding out the picture.

The bad: Interior tech features are scarce for the price, and Bluetooth and satellite radio aren't available. The navigation option curiously requires the automatic transmission.

The bottom line: The 2006 Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT Limited offers more performance than most cars in its class, but this comes at the expense of cabin gadgetry.

Subaru Impreza to introduce a hot hatch?

In an effort to move the Impreza to appeal more to family types, Subaru is taking its Impreza and turning it into a 'daring' hatchback. Or at least UK pub Auto Express says so, which doesn't completely rule out a sedan model for the U.S. market.

Well, actually I do have an idea, as I've heard from someone who has seen pictures of the US-spec '08 Impreza, and he said a sedan is still on the table. He also said it would have the same 105.1" wheelbase as the current Legacy, but will be no longer than the current Impreza. That means less front and rear overhangs. It also means more interior room—a much desired feature. While I have not heard anything regarding suspensions, my guess it will also use the multilink rear suspension from the Legacy.

Subaru Impreza S204 drive

News Photo 091

Set to raise the bar in the Japanese sport sedan genre, the S204 is said to have the power and the pedigree to make STI's latest dream come true. And to reach this double-sided goal, it has taken its hottest production car, the WRX STI and added a dash of cosmetic surgery and a healthy dose of steroids to produce the S204. Wearing a new lip spoiler, rear wing and 18-inch wheels, it might look a little dressed down for the occasion, but as they say, don't judge a book by its cover.

So how does this new saloon stack up? Is it the M3 of the STI lineup? The answer isn't quite that straightforward.

Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT spec.B reviewed

I was smiling all week as I drove the 2006 Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT spec.B sedan. Yes, the name is quite a handful. But it's a car that's worth getting your hands on. Not that it'll be easy to find, as the Japanese automaker says it is going to sell only 500 of these limited-production models in 2006. It's being sold in the United States for the first time, but it has been a hot seller in Japan and Europe.
